What we do
Turning Legal Challenges into Life-Changing Outcomes
Civil Rights:
We advocate for individuals and communities whose rights have been violated, addressing discrimination, abuse of power, and systemic inequities that undermine justice and trust in our legal system. Our goal is to protect those most at risk and to advance reforms that ensure equal treatment under the law.
Postconviction & Innocence Work:
We challenge unjust convictions by uncovering new evidence, engaging expert analysis, and pursuing all legal avenues to correct miscarriages of justice. Most cases are complex, time‑intensive, and often receive little to no dedicated support after the initial trial and appeal. In select cases, JFAI also advocates in earlier stages of the criminal process when systemic issues threaten a person’s rights. Our role is to give each matter the strongest possible chance for a fair outcome.
Why This Matters:
The cases we accept often demand months or even years of legal work, investigative resources, and collaboration with expert witnesses. With your support, we are able to fight for those who would otherwise be left behind, protect the principles of fairness, and strengthen the rule of law.
